Me and Ollie

You have heard the saying Dogs are mans best friend!
Well I think that’s wrong!
“Dogs are Ménières medication! So are cats, rabbits or any pet! “
I particularly choose dogs because for me they are loyal, they cuddle up to you, they can apply pressure to you during an attack; which is comforting, they are proven to lower the heartbeat, therefore reducing anxiety, decreasing fight and flight prone to many MD sufferers, they need to leave the house! When you do other dog walkers speak to you which forces you to interact.
Sometimes when your in a bad place(or feeling negative) you can distance yourself from everyone because you don’t want to tell the truth when they ask how you are. So you just don’t engage with people because it’s easier that way. Then you don’t lie or don’t tell the truth… that you feel awful and they say oh are you not better! You have to go out and walk, keeping your exercise up! Then you feel the sunlight, get some positive endorphins flowing to the brain and actually feel better. For that time.
Just having a little ball of fluff around to talk to when you can’t do that much stops you going mad to. Its companionship. Movement in the house and to don’t feel alone.
If your worried it’s too much, check out the site below! It’s a great idea! Borrow My Dog! You get the companionship and cuddles without the full responsibility of owning a dog full time.
Hearing dogs and assistance dogs are also available for vestibular and hearing disabilities.
Pets are amazing, I help a wonderful family at the moment with Raffy and he has lit up my world after loosing Ollie pictured with me above. At the moment this little bundle is keeping me going, breaking up my week and giving me a reason to smile and laugh it’s joyful seeing the world through a puppy’s eyes when sometimes your world is not so great.
I trained Ollie as my therapy dog. He would sit by me in an attack, even if it meant for hours or days. Spooning me. It calmed me down knowing he was there, feeling his fluffy coat, feeling his heartbeat, he was warm and comforting. If I was spinning in the street he would sit quietly with me until it passed no matter where it was. He knew to pull me to the side if he heard a car behind me. He also knew the command “take me home” to take me home when I asked. When I could barely walk myself back. I miss him. Animals are omnipotent creatures and that bond is special. They know when you need them. In return they need you…To love then just as much! Xxx
